A DESPERATE BATTLE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 15, 11.50 p.m. Paris, May 15. Gamier and Vallot, with two women, were tracked to a house in Nogenthurmarne. At eight o'clock last night a siege of the house begon. A 'huge crowd was present. After a sharp fusillade Vuillemin emerged and surrendered. More shots followed from the villa. Detective Fleury was shot in the stomach, and two other officers less seriously. From the railway viaduct stones were hurled and crushed in the roof. Several bombs were exploded against the building ineffectually. Meanwhile the Zouaves, at various points round the house, kept up a hot fire, the bandits replying. The battle lasted for several hours. A melinite bomb was ultimated exploded, and the house was carried by assault. The police removed Jarnier dead, and Vallot died on the way to Paris. Two thousand troops were engaged. The fate of the second woman lias not been recorded.
