He was scalded about the face and leg, but "was not otherwise seriously injured. He was removed to the Napier Hospital.

The inquiry into the circumstances surrounding -the< death of Mrs. Jeannio Prowse, killed by a motor-car at Reinuera, on May 8, was commenced yesterday, and concluded to-day. A great deal of evidence was taken, and the jury returned a verdict that death was due to shock, following on injuries caused by impact with the motor-car, and that the deceased met her death accidentally through an error of judgment on the part of the driver. The jury added the following rider: "The jury desire to call the attention of the Government to the evidence of John Beveridge Lindsay, traffic inspector for Auckland, they being distinctly of the opinion that every person driving a motor-oar on the public highways should be the holder of a "certificate of competency."
