The monthly report of the electrical engineer (Mr. Black) is as follows: Plant Extensions. —Progress during the past month has not been satisfactory, owing to so much wet weather. Tail-race. —Owing to the very wet weather, the appliances were not equal to the work of getting rid of the water met with, so arrangements were made for the hire of a pump and the 5-h.p. motor wae borrowed from the abattoirs. This is doing the work in all weathers, but as the pump could only be spared for a short time the work has been discontinued on the forebay and pipetrench, and all the men put on to the tail-race, machine foundations and building. The foundations of the building have been completed and a start made with the walls. Machinery.— I The turbines are to hand and have been delivered at the power house. The exciter and switchboard arc due about the end of this month. Pipe Line.—Messrs. Boving and Co. expect the material for this work before the end of the month, and are making arrangements to start the work of erection as soon as possible. Temporary Plant.—As the evening load is now too much for the machines, arrangements are being made to get the temporary generator running. The generator lent by Messrs. Turnbull and Jones ie at tfhe sub-station, and with the assistance of the borough engineer arrangements arc being made to use the borough engine for this work. Store.—As the temporary machine has been placed in the sub-station there is no room for line material, and we have no plfvap to do any work, so a rtore should be erected at once.
