AN EXTENSIVE SCHEME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The acceptance by the Imperial Post-master-General, acting on behalf of His Majesty's Government and the Governments of the Dominions, of the terms submited by fch e Majconi Wireless Telegraph Company, Ltd., for the construction of all the long distance wireless stations which will be required for the Imperial wireless scheme, marks the first step towards the establishment of a girdle of wireless stations round the Empire, Suc}i a scheme ha« vast farreaching potentialities. It has been advocated for a number of years, but it was not until la«t year, when the Colonial Prime Ministers and Mr. Herbert Samuel, the British Postmaster-General, acclaimed the practicability of the scheme before the Imperial Conference, that the decisive step was decided upon. The result of this is now evident in the decision of the Governments concerned to proceed with the construction of the following stations forthwith:—London, Egypti Aden, Bangalore (India), Pretoria (South Africa), and Singapore. The stations will be operated by the Marconi Company on account of the Government for the first six months, and thereafter by the Government. The company will receive a payment of £6OOO for each station, exclusive of the' site, buildings, foundations and machinery. It is further provided that the company shall receive ten per cent, of the prose receipts of long distance stations for 28 v<pars.
