The entire Filipovici family of ten committed suicide on learning that the eldest •on, by whom they were supported, was failing in business. A family council decided to die rather than beg. The father, mother, grandmother, two grown-up daughters and five sons, stupefied themselves with beer, and went to •leep in a garret, leaving two pans of charcoal burning. The youngest son, aged twelve, left a letter explaining the deed.
