An informal meeting of influential citizens decided to request the Lord Mayor to call a meeting of citizens to protest against the Government depriving the Governor-General of hia official residence in Sydney. A GAS EXPLOSION. Sydney, May 8. A man searching for a gas leakage with a light in a shop at Tamworth caused an explosion. The building was completely wrecked. Several people were seriously injured, and a woman was blown across the street.
