THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:— Summary.—Moderate to strong south-easterly winds have prevailed, with cool and changeable weather and showery at times in the northernmost districts. The barometer is still high everywhere. Forecast.—Present indications are for easterly winds, strong to a gale, northward of East Cape and Kawhia, south-easterlies increasing •thence to Kaikoura and Farewell Spit, and moderate to strong southerlies elsewhere. Unsettled and stormy weather is probable in the North Island shortly, with heavy rain in the northern districts, end rain probably following over the North Island. Cool and changeable weather is probable in the south. The barometer has a falling tendency everywhere, especially in the north.
