, . SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary.—A small area of low pressure has passed in the south, with strong westerly and southerly winds, and unsettled weather. Conditions have been fair to cloudy in the north, with showers in parts. The baro-' meter is above normal everywhere, rising slowly-in the south and falling in - the north. Forecast.—Present indications are for increasing south-easterly winds in and northward of Cook Strait, and for strong southerly winds elsewhere. A storm area appears to be developing to tie northward of New Zeaalnd, and a change may be expected over the North Island after about thirty-six hours. Cool and changeable weather is probable generally, and showers in parts. The barometer is falling in, the north, but is fairly steady in the south.
