NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. On Friday, the 2Gth, I had a fair entry at my Waiwakaiho yards and a small attendance. Bidding was not brisk, prices being as follows:—Colored weaner heifers £1 15s Gd to £2 2s, others £1 2s Od to £1 12s, steers 15s to £1 2s, 15-months steers £2 14s Gd to £3 0s Gd, 15-months heifers £3 4s to £3 15s, store cows £2 12s to £3 4s, fat cows £4 15s to £5. At Urenui on Monday, the 29th, there was a good yarding and attendance, with a fair demand for all cattle. At my Stratford yards on Tuesday, owing to the wretched weather, a lot of cattle entered did not come, forward. The public that attended were buyers, and practically everything, with the exception of a few steers, was realised during the afternoon. Good yearlings were iu demand, as also were 20-months heifers. At Stony River on Wednesday, May 1, I held my fortnightly cattle sale, when,

in. spite of the wintry and boisterous weather, there was a large attendance, the feature o'f the sale being over 400 head of stock for unreserved sale on account of Mr. Chas. Sole, who has sold his Okato farm. In spite of the unfavorable weather conditions, the cattle, which were mostly Hereford and Hereford crose, were in the pink of condition and included some prime beef cattle, which were much admired. Bidding was keen from start to finish, and very satisfactory prices were realised. The pedigree stock, which were subject to reserve, were retained by Mr. Sole. Prices realised were:—Mr. Sole's stock: 2</ 3 -year Hereford heifers (r.w.b.) £4 lis, 2-year Hereford steers £3 19s 6d, 20-months empty Hereford heifers £2 I7s to £3 6s, 20-months Hereford steers £3 12s, steer Hereford calves £1 9s 6d, Hereford heifer calves £1 7s, Holstein weaner bull £1 18s, 3-year bullocks £5 7s, store cows £3 to £3 Is, forward cows £3 lis 6d to £4 ss, cows and calves £4 2s Od, fat'cows £5 10s to £5 12s, fat stag £7 14s, fat bullocks £8 12s, forward bullocks £7, working bullocks £25 per pair. MATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews and Bennett report a small yarding of cattle and sheep at their Ingle Wood yards on Wednesday last. Bidding was good for all classes, and practically everything sold at the hammer at the following prices:—20-months steers £3 6s to £3 Gs 6d, 2y 2 -year do.' £4 10s fid, store cows £3 3s to £3 155,! old do. £1 10s to £2 lis, bulls ,£2 10s ' to £3 15s, weaners (medium) £1 Bs, good heifers £2 2s to £2 3s od, wethers 13s 3d, woolly lambs 7s 3d, cull lambs 35,! s.m. ewes 4s to 7s. •SOUTHERN MARKETS. JOHNSONVILLE. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:— At Johnsonville a heavy yarding of )rime bullocks and sheep came forward and sold readily at the following prices: Prime heavy bullocks £lO 2s fid to £lO 12s 6d, prime bullocks £0 10s to £9 17b Gd, light £8 2s 6d,'extra prime heavy wethers 18s Id to 18s 7'd, prime wethers 17s 4d, light Ins/ prime heavy ewes 15s Id to 15s lOd, medium ewes- 13s (id to 14s, light ewes 12s Od, prime shorn lambs 12s, woollv lambs 12s Gd to 12s 9d, plain lambs 10s to 10s Od. ADDIXCITON. At Addington' the entries were somewhat smaller than of late in consequence of the break in the weather, and there was a good demand for almost all classes. Store sheep sold well, fat lambs were very firm, there was a sharp rise in fat sheep, and fat cattle sold rather better. Store sheep—The range of prices was: Forward 4 and 0-tooth wethers 14s Gd to 15s Bd, 2-tooths 12s fid to l.'ls Gd, and up to los for a very forward line; small 2 and 4-tooth ewes 12s to His 3d, good i> and 8-tooths 13s 3d to 14s 9d, full" and failing mouths !)s !)d to 12s, aged 8s to !)s. Fat lambs —There was a keen demand on the part of the export buyers, and prices were very Arm. Tegs made 17s Gd to 19s 9d, extra to 22s 3d, ordinary freezing weights 14s Gd to 17s, lighter 12s Gd to Its. Eat sheep.—There was a keen demand on the, part of export buyers, and there was an advance in prices of Is to 2s per head, and in some eases the rise was even greater in wethers as compared with last week. The range of prices was: Prime wethers 18s to 21s fid, extra to 23s 4d, others 15s Id to 17s Od, prime ewes 14s Gd to 19s 4d, extra to 21s, others 10s Itjd to 14s, merino ewes 8s 4d. Fat cattle. —The quality was not equal to last week, and the sale was dull, though prices showed a little improvement, beef being equal to 22s to 2fis per .10011). Steers made £7 17s Od to £ll 10s. and extra to £l3 10s, heifers £fi to £9 10s, cows £5 15s to £9 15s. Veal calves-sold at 0s to (>os (according to size and quality). Store cattle—Yearlings 375, 15 to 18months sorts £3 as, two-year steers £4 10s. three-vear steers £0 and £G ss, dry cows £-2 5s to £4 10s. Dairy cows —A keen demand existed for the better sorts, -sales taking place at £5 (o £ll ss.
