SEAMEN'S DEMANDS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. London. April 29. A meeting of local seamen and firemen at Liverpool passed a resolution that they would not work on a ship carrying non-unionists or Chinese, nor would they sign on unless a union official had inspected the lifeboats. FIREMEN DESERTERS. London, April 29. Fredericks, a fireman, was fined £5 for deserting the Georgic at Melbourne. The White Star Company stated that nineteen deserted from the ship. TheTe tad been similar cases, owing to the opportunity of earning £9 a month on coastal vessels, compared with £4 in England. A REVOLUTIONARY UPHEAVAL. Received 30, 11.30 p.m. London, April 30. Mr. Keir Hardie, speaking at Rochdale, declared that the Independent Labor Party was out for a revolutionary upheaval which would change the face of society. He commended the Olympic strikers for refusing to work with blacklegs. OPPOSING SOCIALISM. Received 1, 12.30 a.m. ' London, April 30. In consequence of the Minimum Wage Bill, several Liberals, particularly in South [Wales, are forming a league to resist the pressure of the Socialist influence on the Government. It is stated that funds sufficient to contest twentyfive seats at the general elections have been subscribed. It is understood that 150 Labor and Socialist candidates are included in the Labor 'Party's candidates. Payment of members is the chief cTaim. The Transport Workers' Federation has discountenanced the Liverpool Bailors' and firemen's demands. Outside unions' declare that the difficulty is purely local.
