The announcement of the engagement of Mr. Cilia, secretory to the Chinese Consul in Melbourne, and Miss Unie Russell, only daughter of Mr. E. C Russell, of Oak-wood, Brighton, is' the principal topic of conversation in society circles in Melbourne. Miss Russell is well-known in the social and artistic world there. Her histrionic talent attracted her to the stage, and for some years she occupied a prominent position among Australian actresses. Her last appearance was under the J. C. Williamson management, when she supported' Mr Julius Knight in "David Garrick." Since her retirement she has devoted her leisure time to amateur work, and has been an energetic worker in charity's cause. In appearance she is daintv and ethereallooking, with fluffy, fair hair, blue eyes, and a nice complexion. Mr. Chia and Miss Russell first met last year at the Coronation ball in Melbourne, given by the Lord Mayor and Mrs. Davey. The Russell family have let their home at Brighton for three years, and are at present en route for England. The marriage will probably be celebrated this year.
