ENTERTAINMENTS

PICTURE PALACE. BOY SCOUTS BENEFIT. To-night the Empire management is running a benefit in aid of the New Plymouth Boy Scouts. The programme has been arranged from a new selection of films, and contains several pictures of special interest to the Scouts. For instance, in the drama "Saved from Gipsy Hands," the Boy Scouts take the prin' cipal part, and it is a fine interesting and exciting picture. Another novel item is a film entitled "Boy Scouts' Red Letter Day," and another shows the "Chief Scout." The remainder of the programme will be arranged from scenic, dramatic, industrial, and comedy pictures, and the great Shakespearian tragedy "Macbeth" will also be shown. To-morrow night the Empire programme will again undergo a complete change, when the greatest of all Nordisk productions, a thrilling detective story, "The Dead Man's Child," will be the chief attraction. Another "star" picture of an entirely different class will be shown, an Edison two-reel film from Alexander Dumas' "The Three Musketeers." a famous story of the time of Louis XIII. of France, showing the celebrated "Three Musketeers" and their dashing young comrade, D'Artagnan. This is a complete story full of adventure.
