SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:— Summary.—Much snow has fallen on the higher levels in the south, and Saturday and Sunday particularly were very cold and stormy. The weather has moderated -considerably to-day, und«i the influence of a small westerly low pressure in the south, which is likely to pass in the night. Forecast.—Present indications are for strong westerly winds, veering to increasing southerlies everywhere soon. Cold and stormy weaker is probable generally, with heavy seas on the West Coast" and in Cook and Poveaux Straits; =nnw ci the higher levels and the rivers high on the West Coast. The barometer is due to rise everywher? ?oon, and anti-cyclonic conditions will follow.
