THE KOOMBANA

THE MARINE ENQUIRY. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Perth, Aprii 27. At the Koombana enquiry the chief officer gave evidence that the steamer was in splendid trim, the crew efficient, and Captain Allen a careful navigator, who took no unnecessary risks. The acting superintendent of the Adelaide Company gave the court a demonstration of the Koombana's stability arid trim by means of an indicator with weights equivalent to the cargo the Koombana was carrying. These experiments showed that the stability was quite satisfactory. The Westralian manager of the company suggested that better facilities should be granted to enable captains to form weather forecasts.
