A number of settlers in the neighborhood of Urenui have taken advantage of the new conditions 'of connecting "with the_ telephone service, and the work of wiring is now proceeding (writes our Urenui correspondent). The telephone staff are also putting on more wires between Urenui and Mahoenui. An important meeting is advertised to take place on Wednesday night in the gymnasium, South road, to consider a report from Mr. Okev, M.P., in connection with the question of amalgamating with the borough of New Plymouth. Moturoa settlers and householders and ratepayers of the St. Anbyn district are asked to make a point of attending. Interesting reference to this latest phase of the tion is made in another column. At the annual meeting of the Taranaki Law Society, Mr. E. C. TTnglies was elected president for the ensuing year. in place of Mr. T. S. Weston, sen., who was proposed, but declined nomination. Other officers were elected as follows: 'Vicepresident, Mr. 11. C. Wright (Stratford); Iron, treasurer, Mr. P. E. Wilson; lion, auditor, Mr. A. Bewlcy (re-elected). Messrs. D. Hutchen, «T. IT. Qnilliain, A. IT. .Tohnslono. and J. R Boy were elected to the council of the society.
