CRUISER DAMAGED
ACCIDENT TO THE MARYLAND,

The United States cruiser Maryland was accidentally damaged during torpedo practice at Los Angeles. Her bow plates were broken. The vessel had a heavy list, and had to set her pumps going. An investigation is proceeding as to how a loaded torpedo hit the vessel.
