The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m. to-day:—Summary—The barometer has rinen in the north, but is still falling in the southern districts. Southerly and westerly winds, strong to gale, have been with cool, changeable and showery weather. Forecast.— Present indications are for high westerly winds, veering to southerlies, everywhere ~oon. Cold and boisterous weather is probable generally, with rain in most parts of the country and snow on the high.fr levels. A decided rise in the barometric pressure is to be expected everywhere soon.
