TARATA SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

I The committee of the Tarata Sheep J Dog Trial Club had made such complete arrangements for the two days' trial, which eventuated on Thursday and Friday last, that it had long been recognised that all that was required to ensure complete success was fine weather. The fates were kind, and perfect weather conditions prevailed, and as a conae-. queuce there was a very large attendance on both days, interested competitors being present from New Plymouth, Hawcra, To 'Worn, Awakino and intervening places. The proceedings were ably managed by a thoroughly representative committee. The social held on the first night of the trials was a great success, the music being supplied by Messrs G. Sutherland, H. Cottier and Masters G. and B. Cottier. The smoke concert held on the second night was also a great success. The following are the results of the trials: ) Heading, bringing back and holding in ring, about 300 yards; lime, lOmin; first prize €5, second £2, third £l, fourth 10s—Jas. Hunter's Wobbler, 27 points, 1; J. Blair's-Flip, 24 points, 2; W. McCormick's King. 23 points, 3; U\ McMullan's Fly, 20 points, 4. Driving and yarding, about 200 yards; time, lOmin; first prize £4, second £2, third £l, fourth 10s—R. McMullan's Fly, 2!) points, 1; Jas. Hunter's Wobbler, 27 ; points, 2; J. Blair's Flip, 23 points, 3; S. George's Gather, 20 points, 4. Huntaway, about 3~>o yards; time, 12 min; first £3, second £1 10s, third £l, fourth 10s—Jas. Hunter's Tar, 23 points, 1; J. Blair's dusky, 21 points, 2; W. McCormick's Dick. 11) points, 3; 11. Lett's Bob, 17 points, 4. Heading, bringing back and yarding (local), about 2:10 yards; time, lOmin; first £3 and gold medal, second £1 10s, third £l, fourth 10s—S. George's Gather, 25 points, 1: S. George's Loop, 23 points, 2; H. Waite's Scot, 22% points, 3; F. J. Rawlinson's Roy, 21 points, 4. SPECIAL PRIZES. W. Limock and Co.'s special of £1 Is for dog scoring most points in any two events, Jas. Hunter's Wobbler; S. Crossman's guinea breast plate, for local dog scoring most points in class 3, H. Lett's Bob; W. B. Grant's trophy, set of silver links, for dog showing best style at yard, R. McMullan's Fly; F. Yirg'in's guinea bridle, for boy under 18 scoring most points in class 4. C. Weston's Dan; W. B. Grant's silver shaving cup and brush for man showing best style in working dog, W. J. Rawlinson; W. B. Grant's silver matchbox for dog making best head, IF. J. Webb's Jock. The president's cup is now the property of S. George, he having won it twice in succession, and also three times at intervals. Amateur judging competition —W. Topping 1, R. Morey 2.
