Besides a donation to the Trades' Hall building fund, the Premier announced that the Government was prepared to purchase the site for at most £3BOO, to grant a perpetual lease, and to consider the matter of taking up the overdraft of the Trades' Council at a private bank, lending sufficient to complete the building.
