> SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. ' Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday:—Summary: The centra of the cyclone passed through Cook strait early this morning. Heavy rain has fallen in many parts of the country, and snow on the higher levels. Heavy westerly gales were experienced in the north during The night, and the winds have changed to southerly to-day. This evening's reports show decreased force generally. Forecast: Present indications are for southerly winds, strong to gale, cold boisterous conditions generally, heavy rain in parts, and snow on the higher levels. The. glass will probably rise fast everywhere shortly.
