THE HIMITANGI.
FIXJ-fIXG OF THE XAUTU'AL COURT. By Teligrapli—Press Association. Wellington, Last Xight. The Nautical Court absolved the captain of the steamer Himitangi from any carelessness in connection with the recent stranding at the Chathams, and returned his certificate. The court was of opinion that Captain Cowan was careful w in his management of the vessel. The court added that the captain, in leaving P a fireman to take the anchor watch, c< only followed a practice which had hitherto prevailed on the steamer. The t two nautical assessors, however, were g strongly of opinion that such a practice b could not be allowed in future. Dr. Mc- s Arthur, S.M., held that the word "sea- r man" in tjie Act included "fireman." i j No order was made as to costs. j s I ===== jr
