Perry brought an ac- . tion against the Speaker and Bergeant- . at-Arms for £IOOO damages for assault. [ In the demurrer action following the . Supreme Court ruled that the Speaker , had no power to deal with a member I once he left the House. Mr. Willis apt pealed to the High Court, which unani- . mously dismissed the appeal. The Chief Justice in delivering judgment, said the Speaker had no more power over a member outside the House than over anv other person.
