imu \ _ TROUBLE IN A BRICKWORKS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night, Trouble is threatened at C. and W. Gore's brickworks at Wingatui over the question of wages. The men ceased work to-day and demanded that their wages should be increased by Is per day all round. At present tlie boys receive 6s to 7s per day, and laborers Bs. A deputation from the men waited on the employers and laid their grievances before them, giving them till noon tomorrow to consider the matter. The men are resuming work in the meantime. The employers offered an advance of Cd per day, but this was refused. It is understood that if the demand is not acceded to the men will cease work to-morrow. About 20 hands are involved. The employees were formerly working under an award which expired about 18 months ago, but the union has since been dissolved.
