Nolan and Co. report for the week ending April 18, 1912: Poultry.—The market shows a good improvement, prices being much higher for all classes. There were several pens of Black Orjpington cockerels, all of which realised over 3s each. Prices are as follows:—Hens, Is 6d to 2s 4d; pullets, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; cockerels, le lOd to 2s 4d; Black Orpington cockerels. 3s 3d to 3s 9d; ducks, Is 5d to 2s 9d. On Wednesday we held a furniture sale on account of the executors of the S. W. Jackson estate. There was a large attendance 'of buyers and a satisfactory sale resulted. Fruit.—The supplies are now showing a considerable decrease. Apples are practically the only line in good supply. Pears and tomatoes are scarce. We quote:—Apples, dessert, bushels 6s to 6s 6d; cookers, 4s 6d to 5s 6d; half cases, dessert, 3s to 3s 6d; cookers, 2s to 2© 6d; pears, bushel, second grade, 6s 6d to 6s 3d; tomatoes, 5s to 5s 6d. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. At the mart on Saturday our pons were taxed to their utmost with birds of all classes. Prices showed a decided advance on the previous week's list, one pen of white Leghorn pullets realising 5s fid 'parch. Forward pullets and young hens were still keenly sought after. We quote: Hens (old) .Is 4d to Is Sd, young Is 6d to 3s, pullets (young) 2s to 2s 9d, forward 3s 8d to ws fid, cockerels l (young) 10d to Is 6d, fat Is 6d to 2s 9d, ducks Is 5d to 2s 3d, drakes Is 9d to 2s, bantams 8d to lis. p.b. white Leghorn cockJ erel 3s <ld. Prices have started to harden, and from now on fruit will be dear. Prices as under (according to quality and size of cases): —Apples, dessert, as to Bs, cookers 4s to 5s 3d; pears, dessert, 4s 6d to 9s 9d, cookers--4s fid to 5s fid; oranges, re-packs 12s 6d to 13s 6(1; cape gooseberries, 4s 6d to 5s fid; peaches, dessert, 4s 9d to 5s 6d; tomatoes, fe 6d to :8s 9d; quinces, 4s to ss; grapes, lOd to Is; passion fruit, 2s to 3s 6d; walnuts (new season's), 5%d to 6d; .peanuts 2%d.
