ACTIVITY IN AUCKLAND. \ i MAN KNOCKED DOWN ON QUEEN ST. j PAVEMENT. j Auckland, April 15. J Another burglary was added to Auck- : land's already long list on Sunday night, I when a house in St. George's Bay road I was entered. The house had been used I as an office by a drainage contractor, and I this morning a small safe, which bad '' been placed in one of the rooms, was i found in an adjoining paddock. The i lock was broken and a sum of about £6 ' was stolen. Books and papers were scattered over the paddock. A man named Albert Puree!], who now lies in the hospital with a broken leg, made a statement to the police to-day in which he alleged that another man was wilfully responsible for his injuries. His assailant, ho stated, suspected, lie possessed money, and threw him heavily on the pavement in Queen i street on Saturday evening, then making off. • I
Purcell at the time was only able to walk with the assistance of crutches, because of a similar injury received some months ago.
