Mr. Fred Moore was to-<lay re-elected president of the Waneanui Agricultural Association.—Press wire. Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer was yesterday re-elected chairman of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Chaplain Major the Ven. Archdeacon Evans left yesterday by the special train for the Territorial encampment at Hawera. Mr. J. F. Phillips, of Rahotu, left last night for Auckland. He intends to pay a visit of a few days' duration to Whangarei. The death is announced at Auckland of the Rev. H. B. Bennett, Presbyterian minister, at the age of 74. Deceased had been an invalid for some years. The Hon. G. Laurenson, Minister of Labor, will arrive in New Plymouth by the mail train on Saturday evening, and will spend a day or two in the district. The Under-Secretaryship of Justice has been conferred upon Mr. C. B. Jordan, chief clerk in the Justice Department. Mr. Jordan, who was born in Wellington in 1865, joined the Justice Department as a cadet b succeeding to the chief clerkship in 1900. Colonel Robin, Adjutant-General to the New Zealand Defence Forces, who recently had conferred upon him the distinguished order of St. Michael and St. George, was formally presented with the konor by the Prime Minister (Hon. T. Mackenzie) on Monday in the absence of his Excellency the Governor.
