A CORRECTION.

To the Editor. Bir, —I wish to make an explanation in regard to a statement made by a Hillsborough correspondent of the "News" on April 6, re a cricket match that was to have been played between Hillsborough and Egnvont Village, in which he states the Village team failed to put in an appearance. The position was that Mr. R. O'Byrne, the Village captain, had been asked to take a team from the Village to Hillsborough on the date of the children's picnic, to play a friendly match with them. Un response, ' Captain O'Byrne and myself made all the necessary arrangements for the team to go, and on the date fixed we arrived at Lower Egmont road, only to be sadly disappointed, the Hillsborough team having failed to put hi an appearance. A .scratch match was arranged, and then a prospecting party s;t out to find a suitable pitch, which, after considerable trouble, was discovered in a field of long grass, the players having to cut the grass on the 'pitch with pocketknives. The Egiiiont Villago 'team furnished all the cricket gear, the in-itin« team furnishing nothing. I have penned these few lines in defence of the Village Club, as T consider ,insult has been added to injury. It will be some time before the Village will forget their visit to Hillsborough.—'l am. etc.. G. H. MARSH, Hon. Sec. E.V.C.C.
