WHITELEY CHURCH.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. Yesterday was the children's da}' ai the Whitely Memorial Church, the occasion being the week-day celebration 'of the Sunday School anniversary. Early in the evening the children sat down to a sumptuous tea, and subsequently the presentation of prizes took place in the presence of a number of parents and friends. The secretary (Mr. C. W. Hooker) road the annual report, in the course of which he said that on December 31st there was a decmise of six scholars. But this was accounted for by the fact that during the year two new Sunday schools had been opened, one at Frankleigh Park with an attendance of between 30 and 40, and the other at Vogelftown, with a roll number of from 20 to 30.
The financial statement was submitted by Mr. F. W. Okey, and it showed that the cost of working the Sunday School had amounted during the year to ' £4O. The superintendent (Mr. W. Ambury) gave an interesting address to the children, and congratulated them on their good behaviour and the progress made. Mrs. Douglas, superintendent of the infant department, spoke 'of the good work carried on amongst the juniors. She then presented the prizes to the Infants.
The presentation of prizes to the seni or scholars was made by the Rev. Mr Burton.
Votes of thanks to the superintendeni (Mr. Ambury), the 'office-bearers ant the teachers, and Mr. H. White, foi training the children in their singing concluded the gathering.
