LONDON MARKETS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, April 12. Wheat.—The market is firm, though inactive. The liberal shipments are being counteracted by a good Continental demand. There are unfavorable reports of the American crop. Fourteen thousand five hundred quarters of New Sovith Wales January shipment sold at 3!)s. Two Australian cargoes sold at 38s Od and 80s 7%d respectively. Holders are asking 40s for South Australian off coast, and 30s 3d for Victorian March shipment. For near parcels i3os Gd was paid, and 38s 3d is offered for an April Bhipment. There is a quiet demand for Australian spot at 41s M and 425. Supplies are small. New Zealand 39s to 39s fid.
Flour.—(Firm, with a fair demand. Oats.—Firm and unchanged. Peas. —Quiet. New Zealand average quality 36s fid to 38s Cd. Fine, 39s to 39s Cd. Beans.—Nominal, 37s 6d to 395. Wool Sales.—Eleven thousand eight hundred and eighty-four hales were offered, a very miscellaneous selection. There was a good attendance. The market was firm. There was a quotable change from the first series. English buyers were operating freely in crossbreds, tout Continental buyers were more interested in merinos. Copper.—Spot £7O 10s, three months £7l 7s 6d; electrolytic £74 fls. Tin.—Spot £197 15s, three months £194 ss. iPig iron, 's2s lid. Lead, £lO 'ss. Spelter, £25 12s fid. (Butter.—Very dull, with a restricted demand for colonial, owing to the prospect of European supplies shortly. It is estimated that 100,000 boxes have accumulated in London, mainly owing to the reduced consumption through the strike. Choicest Australian 116s to 118s, unsalted 120s; New Zealand 120s, unsalted 1225. €heese.—Steady and unchanged. Sugar.—German 13s 10d, first marks 17s. Bradford Wool.—Quiet and firm.
