Hereus, manager of the Kaiapoi Clothing Factory, lias submitted proposals to the Technical College for the training of girls handling midlines in the woollen and clothing trade's. He told the College Board that the industry in Christchurch was on the verge of a crisis, owing to the .shortage of hands. The board referred the question to a committee. "*
THE EAST COAST RAILWAY. Napier, Saturday. " In response to representations from the member for Napier, the Minister for Public Works has wired Mr. Brown that fifty additional men are to be put on the East Coast railway works at the Napier end immediately. The rails for the first portion of the line are ordered, and e. tender has been received for sleepers. SUCCESSFUL DAIRYING. Pahiatua, Saturday. The Ballance Dairy Company is paying out ifflOOO on Monday to suppliers for March butter-fat, the payment being at the rate of Is per lb. This will bring the total payments by the company for the present season to over £40,000.
