Following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, April 11: '•The second series of wool sales has commenced. There is a large attendance of buyers, who show a disposition to operate very freely. The American demand is chiefly for light-conditioned coarse. The market is firm for all descriptions at January rates, and prospects are favorable;' 132,000 bales of New Zealand wool are available. The estimated value of New Zealand wools at the close of the first series of colonial wool sales in London, held on February 3, 1912, was a follows: Superior merino Is to Is iy,d per lb., medium <iy 2 d to Id, inferior 7y 2 d to Od, fine crossbreds (all grades) liy,d to la iy 2 d, medium 8d to 10y,d, coarse crossbreds of all grades 7d to lOd." The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cablegram from London, dated April ll:—"The sales have opened with strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. There is a »ood demand for all kinds of crossbreds, prices for Which are higher, par to 4 per cent, compared with last sales. The quantity of New Zealand wool available is 120,000 bales." LONDON MARKETS. Mr. R. W. D. Robertson, local agent for Messrs. Andrew Clements and Sons, London, has received the following cablegram, under date April 11:—Butter: New Zealand salted, 225; unsalted, 126smarket steady. Cheese: White, 74scolored, 745; market quiet. ' MATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews and Bennett report that there was a poor yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, prices being about the same. Weavers made £1 to £1 12s, Jersey weanmb £2 2s, heifers £3 Is to £3 3b, steera £2 12s to £2 16s, store cows £2 to £3 bulls £1 10s to £3.
