Golf.—The Taranaki Golf Club's Easter tournament was greeted with downpours of rain, which prevailed for the greater part of the season, so the pretty frocks one anticipated seeing were put aside for mackintoshes and umbrellas. Amongst those present were: Mrs. 1 Glasgow, Miss Glasgow, Mrs. Penn, Miss Penn, Mrs. Kebbell, Miss Bedford, Miss Bewley, Mrs. Paton, Mise Standish, Mrs. R. A. Gray, Mies Kerr (Wanganui), Miss BJundell, Mrs. Kyngdon, Miss Kyngdon, Mrs. I. Saunders (Wanganui), Mrs. O'Callaghan ,(Hawera), Mrs. Espagne, Mise Kirkby, Miss Taylor. Theatre.—Much has been said of the ! great Jansen, the world's foremost transformist, so, taking up the threads in a much lighter strain, being of a very effeminate nature, I will just confine myself to the ladies present and their dresses. Orange Blossoms.—A pretty, but very! quiet, wedding was celebrated at St. ! Mary's last Wednesday morning, between Miss Madolinc Evans, eldest daughter of the Ven. Archdeacon and Mrs. Evans, and Dr. Herbert Bertram, of Rotorua. The bride's gown was of ivory satin, veiled in lovely Spanish lace, the corsage embroidered with silver braid, and with it she wore a lovely laee veil and orange blossoms. Her bridesmaids, Misses B. and F. Evans, wore dainty white book; muslin, with large -black hats lined and trimmed with hydrangea blue and vieux rose silk respectively,, and they carried bouquets to correspond. Mr. Hampson (Rotorua) acted as best man, and Mr. Clement Govett gave the bride away. The Ven. Archdeacon Evans officiated, assisted by Rev. Mr. Colvile. Mr. Renaud presided at the organ. Mrs. F. G. Evans wore a smart black and white robe, with train to correspond, and carried a dainty bouquet. Miss M>'-<\ in black silk, Mrs. Carr, Mrs. J. Bertram (Feilding), and Miss Bertram were present. After the wedding reception, Dr and Mrs. H. Bertram left for Napier by motor, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride was then wearing a blue and black striped coat and skirt, and dainty motor bonnet to correspond. The couple were i the recipients of many happy and useful presents. On Tuesday, at St. Paul's Pro-Cathe-dral, Wellington, Miss R. M. Richmond, daughter of the late Mr. H. R. Richmond, was married to Mr. B. Crompton Smith, son of Mr. Percy Smith, New Plymouth, the Bishop ow Wellington (Dr. Sprott) performing the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. A. Johnson. The bride wore her travelling dress. Hymns were sung by the pupils of Fitzherbert Terrace School, who had also decorated the church very beautifully for the occasion. Subsequently Mr. and Mrs. B. Crompton Smith left for Auckland.
