SUPPLY AND DEMAND.
A CHARGE AGAINST INDUSTRY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received 12, 12.35 a.m. London, April 11. The Bishop of Oxford states that wages will no longer settle themselves by the law of supply and demand. A proper basis of the reconstruction of society is the principle that adequate payment for labor should be a first charge upon industry. A permanent standard wage would doubtless entail a standard of efficiency in the worker.
