THE GISBORNE WORKS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Wednesday. At the Gisborne Oil Company's bore the Waitangi well is producing three barrels per day at the C 55 feet level. OPERATIONS AT No. 5. Great interest continues to be manifested in the operations at Moturoa. Yesterday no less than 100 people signed the visitors' book. Since the beginning of the month nearly (500 have visited the works. The bores are maintaining their usual flow, excepting No. 2, which is on its best behaviour, giving off more oil than ever it has done before. Mr. G. W. Russell, Minister for Internal Affairs, made the following remarks in the visitors' book on Tuesday: "The wonderful success already assured augurs well for the future of the oil industry at Taranaki. I wish it complete success in the future." The Shell Transport Company is about to increase its capital by £3,500,000. Shares have risen during the last few days 'on the London market, as a consequence of this, from 74s to 945. The company has lately acquired the Rothschild oil business in Baku.
