ACCIDENT AND FATALITIES

BURNED TO DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. Emily Jeffery, aged 19 months, who was severely scalded at her parents' residence last Monday, died in the hospital this morning. FOUND DEAD. Te Kuiti, Yesterday. Early on Sunday morning John Farrell, a settler from the Rangitoto block, was discovered dead in Mr. Solomon's yard at Otorohanga. An inquest was opened on Monday and adjourned for a week. The evidence showed that deceased got liquor upon the train on Saturday. Deceased and others had taken the liquor to Solomon's and consumed a considerable quantity. Witnesses' recollection of further events was hazy.
