A BRUTAL ASSAULT

CONSTABLE SERIOUSLY INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Henry John .Wells, Thomas Henry Leth and Robert Richardson were charged at the Police Court with assaulting Constable Mills in Grey street at 1 o'clock this morning. It is stated that the constable was kicked over the heart and much knocked about. He is in the hospital, and was too ill to appear. The full extent of his injuries is not yet ascertained. The men were remanded until April 17.
