RECEPTION AT STRATFORD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Stratford, Last Night. The Prime Minister, the Hon. Thos. Mackenzie, and the -Hons. G. Laurenson and G. W. Russell arrived here by the express train this evening, and were warmly greeted at the station. Afterwards, in the hall of the County Hotel., they were again warmly cheered, and the Hons. Mackenzie and Russell returned thanks, saying that this was the first town tlie.y had visited since the appointment of the Prime Aunister, and the first welcome that they had had. They had been told that they were in the enemy's country, but were not afraid, for with the policy they had to advocate they felt sure that they were going to make many friends in all sections of the community. The Ministerial party afterwards attended a big Liberal gathering in the Town Hall, taking the form of a complimentary social to Mr. Joseph MeCluggage, who unsuccessfully contested the Stratford seat at the general election, and who has been one of the pioneers of the baekblocks, and to those who know him best is known as one of "the whitest of men."
