THE DEATH LIST. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. New York, April o. The death list from the Mississippi floods is growing. Ten people are now known to have been drowned. The river is still increasing in volume, and steamer services are suspended. The water supplies are polluted, and food is sbort in some districts. Five thousand refugees from Hickman, Kentucky, are living in tents and are being fed by charity, their homes having been largely wrecked. WIDESPREAD DISASTER. 'Washington, April 6. Mr. Taft has ordered the utilisation of army supplies for sufferers Iby the flood. Congress is ready to provide monetary relief whenever a clear idea of the losses is received. Carruthersville, in Missouri, is threatened. A large area, which is thickly settled, will ibe affected if the flood defence works give way. Thousands of people are homeless in this country, over 150 square miles. West Hickman, Kentucky, is inundated. When the levee at Hickman broke there was considerable loss of life reported. All the trams have stopped and the river is still rising. In the neighborhood of Cairo fully 600 miles of country along the 'Mississippi is affected. Altogether, the death list totals 20.
