An entire mail train, running at a speed of fifty miles, was derailed at Stockton-on-Tees It ploughed up the permanent way for a quarter of a mile 'before it came to a standstill at the edge of a precipitous embankment. The carriages were hot overturned and the passengers, though shaken, were uninjured.
