MRS ELLIOTT
THE FEDERAL IMPLICATION OFFICE. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 9. 11.30 p.m. Melbourne, April 9. The Federal immigration officers state that they cannot understand the difficulty regarding Mrs. Elliott, who is reported to be una'ble to leave New Zealand owing to the operation of the Australian Aliens Act. Mr. Hunt, secretary of the Department of External Affairs, said that where Eurasians were concerned the Government was always pleased to speed the parting guest. In a case such as wanting to return to India from New Zealand he always did what lie could to facilitate a passage through the Commonwealth. Mrs. Elliott's case had not been officially reported to his department, and he was unable to understand why the shipping company refused to take her as a passenger.
