ATHLETICS

A track has been marked out which is just under a quarter of a mile in circumference, and as a powerful motor roller was employed for several ho*rs in levelling this, cyclists should have no reason to complain, and there should be some records established. Good entries have been promised for the horse jumping events, which will be over three nights' of hurdles. The toys for the children are both numerous and varied, and it is intended to run the juvenile events in between the other events. Afternoon tea will be procurable on the ground at the nominal charge of 6d, and arrangements have also been made for brakes to run at intervals from town at the rea-' sonable fee of ©d. The admission to the sports is Is, children 6d, and the gathering will thus provide New Plymouth residents with the opportunity of having a day in the country, and also of witnessing some splendid athletic contests. The following names were inadvertently omitted from the list of handicaps published on Wednesday afternoon: 100 yds., J. Vale 10yds.; 220 yds., J. Vale 20yds.; 440 yds., T. Lister 32yds.; 880 yds., T. Lister 60yds.; one mile, T. Lister 110 yds- Vi
