FIRES.
A FLOUR MILL DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gore, March 28. By a' fire this morning part of Flemming's 'flour mills was destroyed. The building was insured for £6OO. The four-roomed cottage adjoining, occupied by Mts, Petterson, was also destroyed. About 60 yards of electric cable were destroyed, and the bulk of the town is without light or power to-day. CONFLAGRATION AT WAIROA. Wairoa, March 28. A disastrous fire occurred in the Marine Parade at 12.45 this morning, when Corkill's new two-storey buildirig, 'occupied by the borough council chambers, T, Box, fruiterer and auctioneer, a cottage at the, rear owned by Corkill and occupied by McKenzie, and Wilkins' bicycle depot, owned by J. Powdrell, were all burnt to the ground. The fire started in Box's office. There were no fire-fighting appliances, and the fire burned fiercely and soon attacked the cottage at the rear, then Wilkins' shop. The conflagration was onlv stopped by the brick wall at the Bank of New Zealand, and on the other side by a ferroconcrete building. The borough council lose all their records, and the winners in the Tate agricultural and pastoral show £l5O worth of prizes. The insurances total £IOOO.
