Christclmrch, Wednesday, There has boon considerable controversy lately over the appointment of a' vicar for the new parish district of St. Alban's East, and a section of Anglicans carried a strong resolution protesting against the appointment of the Rev. J. C. Mortimer, on the ground that he is a ritualist. The position is a peculiar one in that the parish has %. right to a voice, in the selection of a. \ vicar, whereas the appointment to the j parochial district was entirely in the hands of the Bishop. Bishop Julius has I now replied to the protest by stating that he has no intention of reconsidering his action, and he adds that the people would serve the church better by loyal support to the vicar than by stirring up strife and making idle protests.
