AMERICAN RAILWAY STRIKE PROBABLE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 26, 10.20 p.m. New York, March 26. Managers of fifty railroads in East Chicago met the locomotive engineers in conference in regard to questions of increases and standardisation of wages. A deadlock followed. A referendum vote will be taken on the men's action, and if it is upheld a great strike is threatened. MOTOR-CAB STRIKE ENDED. London, March 25. The British motor-cab strike has ended, but Sir George Askwith's decision is awaited regarding certain points. STRIKE OF ADELAIDE CARTERS. Adelaide, March 26. The municipal carters are striking and demand 12s Cd per day. The council is unwilling to grant more than 12s. I Scavenging and street watering are being seriously interfered with.
