The few details coming to hand show that the storm was even worse than at first reported. The latest from Depuch Island states that sixteen whites were buried. Three Japanese from the lugger Clara, who were found in a dinghy eff 'Moore Island, state that they swam ashore after battling with the waves for three hours. They had no food for four days. The three found in the dinghy were washed ashore and put off for help. There is grave anxiety for the Koombana, now four days overdue. She it fitted with wireless telegraphy, but no messages have been received. Sin carries thirty-nine passengers. Vessels have been instructed to keep a sharp look-out, but the general opinion in anipping circles is that she is only disabled, She has the reputation of being a good seaboat.
THREE VESSELS SUNK. KOOMBANA STILL MISSING. '" • Received 27. 12.50 a.m. Perth, March 26. A Malay from the lugger Clara walked •long the beach and arrived at Roebourne to-day after terrible experiences. He states that the luggers Karrakatta and Britannia were lying close to the Clara, when the latter sank. They also disappeared. The former had a crew of one white and six colored, while the Britannia's crew comprised one white and seven Japanese. Anxiety h growing in re>peot to the Koombana.
