THE TARANAKI TERRITORIALS

REGIMENTAL ORDERS. I The following are some of the regimental orders which have been issued by Lieut.-Colonel W. Q. Malone, commanding 11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles) : 1. Officers commanding companies are notified that the training in camp will be confined to Sec. 1—95, Infantry Training, 1911, inclusive, and Sec. 301 to 329, inclusive, Musketry Regiments, 1909. All N.C.O.'s must be thoroughly conversant with the above sections. 2. It is notified for general information that gentlemen whose names have been sent in by the officer commanding the regiment for commissions may attend the annual camp. They will receive pay and allowances as for territorial officers. 3. Officers commanding companies will furnish, as soon as possible, a list of those men who have failed to put in an appearance and of whom all trace has been lost. 4. In every case where a person at present serving in the Territorials is recommended for a commission for service with the senior cadets, a recommendation by the officer commanding his company is to be endorsed on the appointment form. 5. In order to acoid any deficiencies in Government stores during camp the following procedure will be adopted: (a) Each company commander will sign for all stores used by his company during the camp, i.e., tents, cooking pots, etc. (b) The adjutant will take over these stores from each company commander at the conclusion of the camp, and will give a receipt for same, (c) The adjutant will personally supervise the loading of all stores on 'to the train at the conclusion of the camp, and will obtain a receipt from railway authorities. 6. Attention is drawn to Paragraphs 438-452, General Regulations. A senior non-commissioned officer is to be placed in charge of each carriage or compartment. It will he his duty to maintain order and to give information re number of men to the train people. The carriages Bhould be inspected before the troops entrain, and a note taken of any broken windows, seats, etc., so that 1 blame shall not fall on the men. On arrival at the station of destination the officer commanding troops will detail an officer to go through the train in company with a railway official and make a note of the state 'of the carriages. Should any damage (such as broken windows) be discovered, the number of the damaged carriage will be noted, and the N.C.O. in charge of that carriage will be called upon for an explanation. 7. All ranks are to be notified to bring their personal record books into camp with them. Company commanders will bring the duplicate record books of all men on the strength of their companies.
