TERRIFIC STORM
SHIPWRECKS IX WESTERN AUSTRALIA. Bj Cftfel#—Press Association—Copyright. Received March 24, 5.5 p.m. Perth, March 23. There was a terrific storm at Balla Balla on Wednesday. The ship Crown of England broke to pieces, and eight men are missing. The ship Concordia is on the beach intact, and there is a fair chance of refloating her. Several lighters were Wrecked. TELEGRAPHIC COMMUNICATION INTERRUPTED. NUMEROUS CASUALTIES. Received 25, 12,50 a.m. Perth, March 24. Wednesday's gale swept the northwest coast from Broome to Roebourne. Telegraphic communication is interrupted and details are meagre. It is known that four dead bodies, including the mate and steward of the Crown of England, have been washed ashore. Seven witnesses in a murder trial were returning to Balla Balla in a lugger, when it capsized, and two, McGuinness and Hill, perished. There was torrential rain, accompanied by a gale. Nine inches were recorded at Roebourne. This caused seri ous floods.
