FIVE GENERALS LYNCHED

TERRIBLH VENGEANCE.

Horrible scenes were witnessed at the lynching of live revolutionary generals at Guayaquil (Ecuador), following unprecedented revolutionary disturbances at Quito. The victims were imprisoned upon reaching Guayaquil, but as soon as the populace learned of their arrival a mob of 5000 persons gathered outside the prison and attacked the guards, who' fired a number of rifle volleys, killing several persons. They were, however, unable to control the mob. who tore down a portion of the walls of the gaol. A crowd of armed men entered the building, dragged the generals from their cells and killed them and oilier prisoners who had supported the revolutionaries, including C.'ol. Coral, editor of the Radical paper.' El Tienipo. Their bodies were dragged through the streets to the c.emetery'of San Diego, where a tire was built and the bodies of the unfortunate men burnt. Their fate is similar to that of General M'ontero, who was brutally killed by an angry moli at Guayaquil' recently.' The fury of the populace is attributed to the tremendaus losses suffered bv both armies at the battle of Aguachi, fought on January 16.
