A CHILD'S SUICIDE. By Cable—Prew A««oei*tion—Copyrifit. Sydney, March 22. _ A-fifteen-year-old girl committed suicide at Murwillumbah after quarrelling with her brother over a piece of cake. SENTENCED TO DEATH. | Brisbane, March 22. George Silva has been found guilty of the murder of Maud Chung at Alligator Creek on November 17, and has been sentenced to death. LORD DENMAN AND STRIKES. Sydney, March' 22. The Governor-General, speaking at a banquet given by the Newcastle Cham, ber of Commerce, denounced strikers. He admitted tliat lately workers' wages and conditions needed revision and readjustment, but a, strike ran the risk of diverting trade which-it was sometimes impossible to restore. The manager of a brick-making firm, giving evidence before the Public Works Committee, declared that Sydney brick makers cleared a profit of from 100 to 150 per cent.
