THE TERRITORIALS
IMPORTANT LEGAL POINTS RAISED. By Telegraph —Press Association. < Wellington, Friday. An important point was raised in the 1 Magistrate's Court to-day- in a case where a young man who registered as a Territorial was charged with failing to render personal service as required, in thalt he absented himself frop the recent camp of instruction. Counsel contended that the offence was one against the Defence officers, who could impose fine which could only be collected by civil process. Another point was, that the Act provided for a certain number of parades, etc., which must be attended per year. Therefore, until the year elapsed, it was impossible to tell whether or not an offence had been committed, a year not having elapsed in this case. Judgment was reserved.
